How to Stack Amazon Coupons, Promo Codes, and Subscribe and Save on One Order

Most people use one discount on Amazon and call it a day. That is leaving money on the table. Amazon lets you combine three separate discounts on a single item: the on-page coupon, a promo code, and Subscribe and Save. Here is exactly how to do it.

01 CLIP THE ON-PAGE COUPON

On many product pages, right under the price, there is a checkbox that says something like “Save 20% with coupon.” Click it before you add the item to your cart. If you skip this, the coupon does not apply. This is the step most people miss.

Not every product has one. When you are hunting deals, the coupon checkbox is the first thing to look for.

02 ADD A PROMO CODE AT CHECKOUT

Some products have a separate promo code, either on the product page, in the product description, or from a deal post. You enter it in the “Gift cards and promotional codes” box on the checkout page.

This is a different discount from the clipped coupon. They are separate fields, and Amazon applies both.

Every discount you stack is money back in your pocket.

03 SET UP SUBSCRIBE AND SAVE

If the product is eligible, choose Subscribe and Save instead of a one-time purchase. That gets you 5% off. If you have five or more subscriptions delivering in the same month, the discount jumps to 15% on each one.

You can cancel the subscription after the first delivery if you only wanted the discount. There is no penalty for that.

THE ORDER AMAZON APPLIES THEM

Amazon takes the discounts in this order: Subscribe and Save percentage first, then the clipped coupon, then the promo code. Each one comes off the already-reduced price, so they multiply instead of just adding up.

ORDER OF OPERATIONS

1. S&S PERCENT

2. CLIPPED COUPON

3. PROMO CODE
Final cut last
Each one comes off the already-reduced price.

Minus 15% Subscribe and Save
$14.00
Minus $3 clipped coupon
$12.60

Example with round numbers, not a real product. That is the power of the stack.

WHAT DOES NOT STACK

Be straight with yourself about the limits:

ONE CODE PER ORDER

You usually cannot use two promo codes on the same order.

LIGHTNING DEALS

Lightning deals and the coupon sometimes do not combine. Test it in the cart and watch the total.

S&S ELIGIBILITY

Subscribe and Save only works on eligible products, and the 15% tier needs five active subscriptions.

COUPONS EXPIRE

Coupons have expiration dates and quantity limits. If the coupon box is gone, the deal is gone.

THE PLAYBOOK

  1. 1Find the product. Check for the coupon checkbox first.
  2. 2Look for a promo code on the page or in the deal post.
  3. 3Check Subscribe and Save eligibility.
  4. 4Add to cart, enter the promo code at checkout, and verify every discount shows in the order total before you place it.
If a discount is missing from the total, do not place the order. Go back and fix it. The cart never lies.
